A Modern Take on Thanksgiving Travel

Whether seeking a romantic escape for two, a Friendsgiving gathering in a new destination, or a festive family escape with the littles, November is poised for celebrations both near and far.

From Kapalua, Hawaii to Montage Deer Valley — and many other mountain and beach favorites in between — top Thanksgiving vacation ideas can be curated in all parts of the world. A common holiday goal, no matter where you choose to celebrate, is bonding, celebration, and a slower-paced approach to a favorite tradition. Here are six ways to practice gratitude in the most desired and welcoming destinations.

Romantic Escape

Where: The Rosewood Suites Collection is designed for flirtatious vacations, and while all 10-plus properties in The Club’s portfolio are swoon worthy, Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort authentically captures the aloha spirit perfect for a celebrating duo.

Best For: Vitamin sea and laidback luxury, located on one of the most beautiful coastlines in all of Hawai’i.

Experience: The Big Island is famously known for two active volcanoes and varying climates — you can experience snow, sand, rainforest, and more, all in a day’s drive. An afternoon (or several) spent at Rosewood Kona’s Asaya Spa is also on deck. Opt for the Lokahi Ceremony, which pays homage to traditional Hawaiian culture via a gentle enzymatic body scrub and a lomi-lomi full-body massage.

Stay: Two-bedroom suites with stunning ocean views are situated along the storied shores of Kahuwai Bay, Kona Village.

Multi-Generational Memories

Where: The Club’s Residence Collection is comprised of 75+ expansive homes — all well-suited for large gatherings. Perennial Member favorite (and the perfect warm weather escape during November) is Real Del Mar, Mexico, where families of all sizes can adventure, dine, and explore together.

Best For: Sun seekers, surfers, food enthusiasts, and culture seekers.

Experience: Vista Paraíso is a Punta Mita-based company offering eco tours and outdoor adventures for families. From canopy tours to ATV outings and horseback riding, these sustainable experiences allow nature lovers of all ages to discover the beauty of the region.

Stay: Real del Mar boasts a slew of ultra-private villas with unique floor plans (and 4- to 5 bedrooms) that allow families to easily gather. Private bedrooms allow for space, yet beautiful living and dining rooms means you can entertain for days. Pro Tip: book a private chef experience so you can sit back, relax, and just enjoy the big day. Cheers!

Immediate Family

Where: Come November, cozy alpine winters call for s’mores, board games by the fireplace, and plenty of quality bonding time. Where better to experience late-autumn's chill than the luxurious Montage Deer Valley.

Best For: Family fun, elevated adventure, ski lovers, and alpine enthusiasts.

Experience: When you’re looking to unwind, try a massage at Spa Montage or just give the kids their own "me" time and utilize the Paintbox Kids Club with programming for ages 5–12 that is both educational and entertaining. Come evening or Thanksgiving Day, in-residence private chef dinners create truly festive celebrations.

Stay: Four-bedroom, ski-in/ski-out vacation homes are ideal during any season. Après-ski or golf, sip cocktails from your private hot tub prior to heading into town for fine dining, casual family fare, or ski town nightlife.

Thanksgiving with the Kiddos

Where: The California Coast is always a good idea, especially when you stay at Pelican Hill Villas in Newport Beach.

Best For: Golfers, young sea-shell collectors, and fashion finders.

Experience: At Pelican Hill Golf Club, the Tom-Fazio designed Ocean North and South Courses are designed to complement the natural landscape. Afterward, dine on Italian-style cuisine at the Pelican Hill & Bar. Young adventurers will become fixated on the kids pool and can also kick back in a beanbag chair at Camp Pelican, a kids-only zone equipped with board games, age-appropriate books, video games, and a Ping Pong table.

Stay: The Club features stylish, three-bedroom residences at this 500-acre luxury resort.

Friendsgiving

Where: Ready to journey with your favorite couples? St. Barts ensures a stylish soiree.

Best For: Francophiles, couples traveling together, private yacht excursions, and all-day rosé.

Experience: Snorkelers can find brilliant reefs and healthy coral. After exploring underwater, take a private surf lesson and then refuel at Le Toiny St. Barth. After your toes-in-the-sand meal, hit the famous Nikki Beach, with plenty of table dancing and internationally renowned DJs.

Stay: The Club’s three-, four-, and five-bedroom island-chic luxury villas maintain an air of hillside seclusion in St. Barts, while the Rosewood Le Guanahani is a haven of casual luxury, comfort, and elegance — offering an authentic island experience.

Solo Venture

Where: Thanksgiving may traditionally be spent with family and friends, but it can also be prime time for reflection and wellness. If looking to get away from the daily grind and regroup, Miraval Resort & Spa is intentionally designed for solo journeys that are true resets.

Best For: Set on 400 acres in the Sonoran Desert near Tucson, Arizona, Miraval offers a sanctuary to lay down the burdens of daily life and just be.

Experience: With so many compelling classes, mindful movement offerings, and an unforgettable spa, you can be as active or as lazy as you desire. Miraval musts include a desert hike through the dramatic yet peaceful landscape, a silent walking meditation through the resort’s Sacred Labyrinth, and healthy meals sourced from the Miraval organic garden.

Stay: Three-bedroom villas feature retractable, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom, and expansive outdoor terraces with gas fire pits and indelible views of the Sonoran Desert and Catalina Mountains.
