And the sandy surface targets important stabilizing muscles that often get overlooked. When class ends, you’re encouraged to cool off with a dunk in the ocean.
Get a Core Workout on the Water
A kayak or standup paddle board excursion through the South Carolina Lowcountry waterways delivers a killer abdominal and upper body workout while also allowing guests to take in the surrounding marsh ecology and wildlife. The ultimate balance challenge on a SUP: not toppling over when a bald eagle soars by. Beginners can sign up for lessons and the resort also offers two-hour, naturalist-led paddling tours that delve into marsh habitat.
Skip the Peloton and Explore on Two Wheels
Kiawah Island boasts over 35 miles of paved bike paths and the hard-packed sand on the resort’s 10-mile stretch of beach makes it possible to pedal along the shore. Seaside Cycles stocks cruiser bikes for children and adults, plus tandems, adult trikes, and tag-along attachments for kids. Rent in advance and they’ll deliver bikes and helmets to your residence prior to arrival.

By taking your yoga practice to the beach, you’ll challenge your balance on the sand, plus get an extra mood boost from the negative ion-rich salt air. Members have access to five championship golf courses. Get in your steps on the Ocean Course, which is a walking only course except during certain times of the day in June, July, and August.
