72 Hours in Santa Monica

From surf sessions to sunset dinners, Santa Monica offers the ultimate weekend escape for those seeking sun and style by the sea.

Where surfboards meet stilettos, and beach bums meet bohemian boutiques. Welcome to Santa Monica, the SoCal escape that effortlessly fuses laid-back beach life with a dash of city edge. With 72 hours at your disposal, you’ll soak up Pacific breezes, high-end bites, and a lifestyle that makes time slow down — just in time for sunset.

Day 1

8 a.m. | Start your morning at Sweet July. Order their delightful Figs, Honey, and Goat Cheese Toast, a favorite among locals, and sip a cappuccino as the ocean breeze flutters through the palm trees. You’re in Santa Monica, darling. Time to relax.

9:30 a.m. | It’s time to embrace the local vibe — grab a Bluejay electric bike from the hotel staff and pedal along the Marvin Braude Bike Path. This 22-mile trail hugs the coastline, providing views of the glittering Pacific and a chance to check out Muscle Beach, where fitness enthusiasts show off.

12:30 p.m. | Seafood, yes? Yes. Park your bike and settle in at Water Grill, where the oysters practically scream, “California coast.” Grab a seat on the patio and let the parade of sunglasses-clad locals provide the entertainment.

3 p.m. | No trip to Santa Monica is complete without a visit to the Santa Monica Pier. Take a spin on the historic Ferris wheel or indulge in some classic arcade games. Whether you’re 10 or 50, the pier promises a dose of quintessential California fun.

6 p.m. | Slide into The Lobster for dinner as the sun sets (reservations are a must). With panoramic views of the Pacific and a perfect vantage point over the pier, order the whole lobster or splurge on the surf and turf. Pair it with a crisp white wine and toast to the first perfect day.

Day 2

7:30 a.m. | Begin day two with yoga on the beach. With the sound of waves lapping the shore, you’ll find your zen in no time. Nothing says “vacation” like a beachside savasana.

10 a.m. | Head to the famous Santa Monica Farmers Market, where chefs and locals shop side by side. Stock up on fresh fruit, artisanal pastries, and organic treats. Pro tip: grab a coffee from Caffe Luxxe while you peruse the market stalls.

12:30 p.m. | It’s time for lunch at Rustic Canyon. This local favorite is known for its farm-to-table fare, with a menu that changes daily. The fried chicken sandwich is a must.

3 p.m. | Spend your afternoon shopping along Montana Avenue, a boutique-filled stretch lined with everything from indie fashion to luxury finds. Pop into Sharon Segal for effortlessly cool SoCal style or stop at Groundwork Coffee for a mid-shopping pick-me-up.

7 p.m. | For dinner, make your way to Elephante. This rooftop hotspot brings Mediterranean flavors to the heart of Santa Monica, all while offering killer ocean views. Order the wood-fired pizza, share a few plates, and toast to the good life. This Member favorite hotspot was even host to our Summer Soiree with Club Partner PS in September.

Day 3

8:30 a.m. | Start your final day on a high note with a paddleboarding session off Santa Monica Beach. Glide along the calm morning waves as dolphins play in the distance — it’s the ultimate way to connect with the ocean.

10 a.m. | Time for a quick detour — jump in the car and head up the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu. The drive alone is worth it. Once there, brunch at Malibu Farm on the pier is a no-brainer. The farm-fresh, health-conscious menu is exactly what you’ll crave post-paddleboard

1 p.m. | Back in Santa Monica, stop for a light lunch at True Food Kitchen. Known for its wellness-driven menu, this spot serves up vibrant dishes like ancient grain bowls and fresh-pressed juices.

3 p.m. | Finish off your Santa Monica escape with some luxury lounging at The Proper Hotel’s rooftop. With a cocktail in hand, relax poolside as you soak in views of the city and coast. It’s the perfect farewell to your sun-drenched getaway.

7 p.m. | Your final dinner is at Cassia. With Southeast Asian flavors and California flair, this restaurant serves up bold, beautiful dishes like spicy lamb breast and turmeric cod. End the night with a celebratory cocktail and reflect on a weekend well spent.
